To be stripped or not to be stripped
Daria Mondesire, one of many, states that minorities bare the brunt of examination, and I for one agree with her. Most of the people that are being strip searched are a minority race. This is unfair and shows racial profile of our security system. What if someone has been raped as in this case with Mondesire? It brings back flashes of something tragic that happened. It is also invasion of privacy, which is given to us by the fourth amendment. Also, the security officer conducting these strip searches could be perverted. In this case he is molesting people and that too is against the law. Over all I agree with Mondesire that racial profiling should not be a reason to strip search individuals only being based on suspicion or evidence.

Is U.S. Customs taking away our rights?
No one should have to bare the striping of their
clothes or their rights when traveling in and out of the country just because a
federal agent decides to label them as a “potential courier.” As MonDesire
says in her story 96% of the people that custom services searched were found to be carrying anything on them. Furthermore, that is very high number and they shouldn’t be
able to profile someone because the constitution states that people should be
protected from unreasonable search and seizures. Travelers were subjected to
partial or full strip searches, x-ray exams and cavity searches. In addition,
this was very degrading and uncomfortable to mostly all of the people that had
to undergo this kind of treatment. It is understandable to want to limit the
amount of drugs coming and going during air travel but to what degree is it not
acceptable. Also MonDesire states that minorities were subjected to these
examinations just because of the color of their skin. People shouldn’t have to
fear the airport when boarding a plane due to the way the U.S. customs officers
decide to search them. Whether someone is of a different race, has special needs,
or is just an average person they shouldn’t feel as if their rights or their
dignity is being taking away from them during what is supposed to be a nice
trip.
NO ONE! (MonDesire Article Reply)
NO
ONE!
Racism is still amongst us! In
response to the article written by MonDesire I would have to agree and disagree
with her. The reasoning behind such is because I believe in human respect.
Although I believe no one deserves to be handled against their will, the
security and government have to assure everyone is safe aboard ships, planes,
buses, trains, etc. I understand that MonDesire feels as if the security was
being prejudiced against her because she is an African American. The sequence
of searching is random! Granting if someone looks like a “potential courier”
then they shall be searched immediately. Famous citizens of America are often
over looked and exempt from the normal searches of everyday citizens. I agree
that favoritism is shown in the United States towards famous individuals. In
all certainty as an American Citizen I believe the officers were just doing
their jobs! I believe no one is bigger than the country and all are equal and
have equal opportunity.

Stripped of more than my clothes
"Stripped of More than My Clothes" I find that actually pretty hard to believe when it was a part of the security at the airports job just take make sure that every one is safe from everything. Drugs and weapons and other things of that nature. I mean I can understand where she is coming from in the article when she was actually getting searched because men/women act different when it comes down to being striped searched. When she brought up that she was "black" it don't make that into a racial thing because it is a random pick no matter if you are white, black, Indian or from any other decent. In my opinion I really think she over reacted when she wrote this article because the airport security was just trying to do there job and they didn't mean any harm by it.

The Importance of U.S. Customs Service in Society
The U.S. Customs Service is very important in today's society considering they protect citizens from terrorists, illegal immigration, and illegal drugs. According to Daria Mondesire, the U.S. Customs forces people to disrobe and become subjected to a cavity search, stripping them of their dignity. I, myself, find Daria impulsive, and I believe Daria over reacted about being "stripped of her dignity". The U.S. Customs was simply just doing their job. I believe that if U.S. Customs was lenient on who they let walk by, then there would be a lot more illegal actions occurring in the United States. I do not believe that Daria's statistics were completely accurate either, considering I find her opinion and facts to be biased compared to the broad spectrum of races being searched. The U.S. Customs Service is a highly beneficial organization in our government, despite what other people seem to believe.
